Heritage Oak’s Classic 18 is a par-70 golf course that has elegant styling from the era some of golf’s greatest architects. The course was planned in the “Roaring 20’s by millionaire developer George L. Chamberlain, and the original design by Edward Dearie Jr. Jacobson Golf Course Design firm of Libertyville was engaged to renovate the bunkers and recontour the greens in 2004. Bunkers were rebuilt with modern construction techniques for drainage and erosion control. Fescue was placed around the bunkers to enhance the classic design of the course. Jacobson was reengaged in 2019 to design 2020 major renovation. The current renovation focused on a complete rebuild of the greens. A new drainage system was developed which included underground infrastructure improvements and the development of larger ponds, will allow the course to reopen more quickly after rain events. In addition, the rainwater is collected and reused for irrigation on the course. New forward tees have been added bringing the total to five tee options per hole. The addition of a new set of forward tees will provide greater enjoyment of the game for players of all levels offering the challenge of hitting a variety of shots along with the added advantage of increased speed of play overall on the course.
